Hi - I’m Christine and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, the co-founder of Amenta Nutrition, and I LOVE food. I provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to both individuals and companies and I thrive on clarifying nutrition misinformation!
The reason why I changed my career and became a dietitian is based on my own personal experience. I had belly distress. As someone who has suffered from belly discomfort, changed her diet and alleviated her symptoms, I understand the power that food can have on one's well being and quality of life.
This experience encouraged me to enroll in nutrition science studies at Hunter College where I received my Masters of Science in Nutrition. I learned how nutrients from foods are the sources of an individual’s energy and are responsible for that individual’s growth, health, and good condition. This knowledge has driven my passion for nutrition and motivates me everyday to communicate the many health benefits of food to my clients.
I have since engaged in extensive training in gastrointestinal nutrition and attended many digestive disease conferences so that I have all the tools necessary to help clients rid themselves of belly (and intestinal) distress!
In addition to my masters, I hold a B.A. in Italian and have a Certificate of Training in Obesity for Pediatrics and Adults. I am a committee member of the Dietitians in Gut-Brain Disorders Workgroup and a Monash University low- FODMAP diet trained dietitian.
The last rule I leave with clients is that food must taste good!
Hello, I’m April, and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and New York Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist. As co-founder of Amenta Nutrition, I provide medical nutrition therapy for conditions such as IBS, constipation, SIBO, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes and nutrition counseling for weight loss and management. I believe in using science-based information to create an individualized plan that will empower my patients and allow them to reach their goals.
I did not take the traditional path to become a dietitian. As a model since the age of 14, I traveled extensively, living in several countries, and have been fortunate to work with some of the biggest names in fashion. I am grateful for the opportunities that modeling has offered, but it resulted in my having a negative relationship with food. I would barely eat or try the latest fad diets that I read about in magazines to try and achieve what I believed was my idea of perfection.
My relationship with food began to heal when I started to work as an assistant to a celebrity chef. I realized that food was a source of nourishment for the body and became a certified health coach. After coaching others, I quickly realized that I did not have the scientific knowledge nor the counseling background to have the greatest possible impact on others.
While continuing my career as a model, I attained a BS-MS accelerated degree in Nutrition from Hunter College. I completed my dietetic internship with Hunter College, where I worked as a research coordinator and completed rotations at the Bronx Centers Care Center, the New York Food Policy Center, and God's Love We Deliver. I am a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a member of several practice groups, including Women’s Health, Weight Management, and Dietitians in Medical Nutrition Therapy. Additionally, I am a Monash FODMAP trained dietitian.
When not working, I love to travel, bake, spend time with my husband and stepdaughter, and EAT!

Registered Dietitians are food and nutrition experts who apply the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living, using their clinical expertise to help individuals make personal, positive lifestyle changes. They are licensed medical professionals who offer medical nutrition therapy.
The “RD” credential may only be used by practitioners who are authorized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Individuals with the RD or RDN credential are leaders in the field of dietetics who have fulfilled specific requirements, having earned a least a bachelor’s degree (about half of all RDs, like myself, hold advanced degrees) in nutrition and food science, completed an accredited, supervised practice program, passed a rigorous national examination and maintain their skills by meeting the profession’s continuing education requirements for re-certification.
While RDs are sometimes referred to as “nutritionists,” not everyone who uses this title is a “registered dietitian.” In many states, anyone may designate themselves a “nutritionist,” regardless of education or training.
Registered Dietitians complete continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration, which entails a minimum of 75 continuing education credits every five years. This way they can always provide the most up-to-date recommendations.
Many registered dietitians hold additional certifications in specialized areas of practice, such as pediatric or renal nutrition, sports nutrition, nutrition support, and diabetes management.
Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is defined as an evidence-based medical approach to treating certain chronic conditions, diseases, and other diet-related disorders through the use of an individually-tailored nutrition plan. It is nutrition counseling specifically provided by a registered dietitian. MNT is a comprehensive approach, giving you the education, counseling and feedback you need to successfully meet your goals. There is strong evidence that MNT may reduce risk factors for chronic diseases like obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and more.
