Hi! I’m Christine and I am a clinical Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a New York State licensed Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist. As the co-founder of Amenta Nutrition, I provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to both individuals and companies. While I help clients with various health concerns, my main focus is on functional digestive disorders, like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), chronic constipation, and SIBO as well as pediatric nutrition - particularly helping parents with picky eaters so their children can thrive. The nutrition world is rife with misinformation, leading to public confusion and poor dietary choices. I am here to separate fact from fiction so you can feel confident about your nutritious and sustainable eating plan that we develop together!
My love of food started during Sunday suppers at my grandma’s house. We would eat meatballs, pasta, and lots of garlic bread. Although delicious and nostalgic, years later I would realize that those large quantities of fat and huge portion-sizes caused me belly discomfort. As a college student, with limited time and no experience in the kitchen, I resorted to fast food and frozen meals. However, soon after, I was tired with belly discomfort - similar to the effects of my grandma’s cooking.
After graduating college and living abroad in Italy, I worked with an amazing chef in one of New York City’s top restaurants, where I had the opportunity to taste delicious, nutrient-rich dishes from diverse regions in Italy. Once I began eating a balanced diet that incorporated more fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains, my energy level notably increased while my gut health improved. Consequently, I understood the impact of food choices on my well being! This “ah ha” moment encouraged me to enroll in nutrition science studies at Hunter College. It was during this experience that I began to appreciate the evidence-based benefits of my new dietary habits.
I learned how nutrients from foods are the sources of an individual’s energy and are responsible for that individual’s growth, health, and good condition. This knowledge has driven my passion for nutrition and motivates me everyday to communicate the many health benefits of food to my clients.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Italian and a Masters of Science in Nutrition from Hunter College. I am an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as well as a member of the following practice groups: Dietitians in Gluten & Gastrointestinal Disorders and Dietitians in Medical Nutrition Therapy. I am also a Monash University low- FODMAP diet trained dietitian.
Whether running on my local trail or practicing pilates, I’m always staying active! I am a mom of 3 beautiful kids and a lover of food and cooking. My previous experience includes restaurant hospitality, assisting a private chef, and working for one of New York’s most respected wine importers and distributors.
Hello, I’m April, and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and New York Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist. As co-founder of Amenta Nutrition, I provide medical nutrition therapy for conditions such as IBS, constipation, SIBO, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and diabetes and nutrition counseling for weight loss and management. I believe in using science-based information to create an individualized plan that will empower my patients and allow them to reach their goals.
I did not take the traditional path to become a dietitian. As a model since the age of 14, I traveled extensively, living in several countries, and have been fortunate to work with some of the biggest names in fashion. I am grateful for the opportunities that modeling has offered, but it resulted in my having a negative relationship with food. I would barely eat or try the latest fad diets that I read about in magazines to try and achieve what I believed was my idea of perfection.
My relationship with food began to heal when I started to work as an assistant to a celebrity chef. I realized that food was a source of nourishment for the body and became a certified health coach. After coaching others, I quickly realized that I did not have the scientific knowledge nor the counseling background to have the greatest possible impact on others.
While continuing my career as a model, I attained a BS-MS accelerated degree in Nutrition from Hunter College. I completed my dietetic internship with Hunter College, where I worked as a research coordinator and completed rotations at the Bronx Centers Care Center, the New York Food Policy Center, and God's Love We Deliver. I am a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and a member of several practice groups, including Women’s Health, Weight Management, and Dietitians in Medical Nutrition Therapy. Additionally, I am a Monash FODMAP trained dietitian.
When not working, I love to travel, bake, spend time with my husband and stepdaughter, and EAT!
